Peri Soother

Perineum Ice and Heat Strip

Hot and cold therapy, for your bits.

WHEN YOU'LL NEED IT

In late pregnancy, use heated before perineal massage and in labour to relax muscles and help the surrounding tissue stretch. This is essentially preparing the perineal area for delivery. After birth, use it frozen to soothe swelling and inflammation after birth on your perineum or across your C-section incision.

HOW TO USE IT

Once heated or frozen, slide the strip into the fabric slip for extra comfort and place inside your underwear. Layer under a pad or Peri Wipes for complete postpartum care.

HEAT THERAPY INSTRUCTIONS

Place gel pad in the microwave for the time indicated below. Do not microwave for more than 20 seconds in total. Always test temperature with your hand prior to use. Run fingertips over gel pad to disperse any hot spots and ensure even distribution of gel within the pad. Use for a maximum period of 15 minutes.

700 watts: 15 seconds

1000 watts: 13 seconds

1250 watts: 10 seconds

COLD THERAPY INSTRUCTIONS

Freeze for 2 hours or submerge in icy water until desired temperature is reached. Use for a maximum period of 15 minutes.

WHY YOU'LL LOVE IT

No, you don't have to put frozen condom in your undies (seriously, that's what the hospital used to give out), Peri Soother is a much better option. Hot and cold therapy is easy and hugely effective in birth prep and recovery, and Peri Soother does both. Keep it handy in late pregnancy and early postpartum.

FAQ

Why would I use Peri Soother cold?

A cold Peri Soother can be worn on a sore perineum to reduce swelling and inflammation. It can also be applied to a c-section wound to help decrease swelling and heat.

Why would I use Peri Soother warm?

In those early postpartum days, a cooled Peri Soother can help to calm pain and swelling.

A warm Peri Soother can be used on a C-section scar approximately four weeks post birth (however we always recommend getting this signed off by your healthcare provider). Warmth around the scar may support healing tissue through improved blood flow or help prepare the area for scar massage.

You can use a warmed Peri Soother during labour to increase blood flow and tissue elasticity.

Warmth improves circulation to the perineal area, which helps the tissue become more flexible. More flexible tissue is less likely to tear as your baby’s head stretches the vaginal opening.

A warm Peri Soother may also be used if you have decided to try Perineal Massage. This may assist the skin to soften and therefore make the massage easier.

How long does it stay at the preferred temp?

Around 15 minutes.

Can I put it in the freezer?

Yes, for up to 2 hours.
